June 23, 2019 - Minnesota Food Truck Festival Uptown  - This year there will be 18 food trucks that are new to the scene, offering mre diverse foods and a number of vegetarian and vegan options. There will also be expanded beverage offerings including craft beer, Hard Cider and Spiked Seltzers. In addition to a wide array of culinary offerings and beverages, the festivals will include several non-food trucks offering fashion, men’s grooming, music, and a Mobile Escape Room.   Join us for delicious food and beverages, live music, and outdoor games for all ages (as well as activities for four-legged family members). The Minnesota Food Truck Festivals are free to attend and are open to the public. All proceeds from the 21+ alcoholic beverages wristband sales at each location will benefit Feed My Starving Children. For every wristband sold, 4 meals will be provided to children in need around the globe. The 2018 Food Truck Festivals raised 100,000 meals and this year, organizers hope to raise even more.  The Uptown Food Truck Festival debuted in 2013 and has grown to be the largest Food Truck Festival in the Midwest, with more than 65 food trucks. Food offerings will range from Poke Bowls and Bahn Mi to meat pies and Uptown favorites, Tin Fish! The non-food trucks will offer on-trend fashion, men’s grooming services, music, and the Mobile Escape Room trailer. July 19 through July 28, 2019 - SISTERS OF SWING: The Story of the Andrews Sisters - The Maplewood Area Historical Society is on a mission to make its historic barn a professional summertime theatre venue. In July they embark on their third annual summer show, and this time it’s SISTERS OF SWING: The Story of the Andrews Sisters, written by Minnesota playwrights Beth Gilleland and Bob Beverage. The story follows Minnesota-born sisters LaVerne, Maxene and Patty Andrews as they began their recording career in the ‘30s, rose to stardom entertaining American GIs in WWII, and walked a winding path to success which gained them more top 10 hits than the Beatles. The show includes over 20 crowd-pleasing hit songs such as “Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy” and “Don’t Sit Under the Apple Tree.” Joy Donley, the show’s director, is also part-time operations director for the Society. She is excited about creating space to interact with Minnesota history through theatre. “History is sometimes a hard-sell,” she says, “but theatre gives history breath and skin,” she says.  Running July 19th through the 28th at at Bruentrup Heritage Farm, 2170 County Road D East, in Maplewood. July 1, 2019 - PROHIBITION:  A GRAND MISADVENTURE - In 1920, the United States entered during which the manufacture, sale and transportation of intoxicating liquors was banned. As it turned out, the US also entered a period of lawlessness and corruption, unequaled in its history. Many Prohibition supporters felt that the passage of the 18th Amendment would bring about law and order and restore the family. July 20, 2019 – North American Roots Music Festival -  The fourth annual North American Roots Music Festival is lining up to be an historic event!  We are thrilled to have two amazing headliners plus a lineup filled with fan favorites, noon-8:30 pm, Saturday, July 20, 2019.  The afternoon headliner is The Okee Dokee Brothers, and the final headliner is Nicholas David. Rounding out the entertainment is Ellis, Annie Mack, The OK Factor, The Sawtooth Brothers, and Red Yarn.  Excellent music is not the only thing planned for this kid-friendly day. Craft beer, food trucks, curated vendors selling a broad scope of merchandise, and plenty of kid activities, will be set up on the grounds.  The North American Roots Music Festival will be noon –8:30 pm Saturday, July 20, at the Minnesota Waldorf School, 70 East County Road B, Maplewood, MN. August 1 - 4, 2019 - Minnesota Seniors Games - The 2019 Minnesota Senior Games will be held in Greater St. Cloud on August 1st - 4th. August 15, 2019 – Bark in the Park - To mark the start of the "Dog Days" of Summer, Blaine is hosting BARK IN THE PARK!  Bring your favorite four-legged friend and visit with companies and non-profit groups specializing in dogs.  The event  will feature nail trimming and dog merchandise for sale at the vendor booths. You and your dog can also enjoy the Pup-arazzi photo booth, food trucks, music by the Backyard Band, and MORE! FREE dog licenses are available on site with proof of vaccination.  5:00pm – 7:00pm at Aquatore Park in Blaine. First 300 dog owners will receive a free Bark in the Park towel.  *Friendly reminder:  dogs need to be leashed outside of the fenced in dog park.*

FREE YOGA CLASSES - Union Depot in downtown St. Paul has added another free yoga opportunity to its weekly schedule of classes open to the public.  The new class, Yoga Sculpt done with no weights, will be held weekly on Mondays beginning April 4 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. and will be taught by skilled instructors from Studio925 by CorePower Yoga & Spa in Woodbury.  No advance registration is required.  Yoga Sculpt with no weights is a total body workout designed to tone and sculpt every major muscle group.  This class will increase the heart rate with an easy-to-follow program and complements regular yoga practice by increasing overall strength.  Union Depot also offers free yoga classes on Tuesday from 12:00-1:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00-10:00 a.m.  The Tuesday classes are at Intermediate level and the Saturday classes are at a variety of skill levels, with the first Saturday of the month focused on Beginner level. Our unique program serves to improve the quality of life for seniors and build stronger communities. With chapters located throughout Minnesota LGF is able to reach thousands of individuals each year. All the fishing rods, bait, and life jackets are provided.  The pontoons  are handicap accessible.  The only thing the individual needs to provide is a fishing license! Student Theatre Camp Experience Rises To Top
Chanhassen Dinner Theatres’ renowned summer theatre camp program, CHAN DT MUSICAL THEATRE CAMP, returns this summer with exciting new themes for youths and teens.  Since 1994, over 11,000 kids and teens have learned about the magic of musical theatre as only Chanhassen can do it. This educational camp program is also terrific summertime fun. Kids and teens, ages eight to eighteen, are given opportunities to explore a wide spectrum of musical theatre components including voice, movement, costumes, scenery, stage combat, improv and more -- all taught by professional members of the Chanhassen acting company, designers and choreographers making the CDT student theatre experience rise above other offered theatre camp programs.  Camp sessions are available throughout the summer months for both half and full day, week-long sessions.
