May 20 – June 5, 2016 – Sons Of The Prophet - Park Square continues its 2016-2017 season with the area premiere of Stephen Karam’s celebrated and searing drama, Sons of the Prophet. Jef Hall-Flavin stages this explosively funny play about forbearance and compassion by one of the nation’s most impressive rising playwrights.  If to suffer is to live, then Joseph Douiahy (Sasha Andreev*) is more alive than anybody. The marathon champion has chronic pain. His publisher boss (Angela Timberman*) is overbearing. His father and uncle (Michael Tezla*) are ailing. His brother (Maxwell Collyard) is a handful. And that’s just a typical day. Joseph struggles to manage a dead-end job, mysterious pain, and a family tragedy. The only thing more dysfunctional than his health is his nonexistent love life as a gay Lebanese-American in small-town Pennsylvania. Once he let slip that he’s distantly related to Kahlil Gibran, the author of The Prophet, his boss began dogging him to write a family memoir and when a reporter gets too close, things get really weird with his boss. Joseph’s wit and worn-out family may be all that’s left to keep him sane.  All performances are in the company’s Proscenium Stage in Saint Paul’s historic Hamm Building, 20 W. Seventh Place.  Ticket prices: Previews: $27 and $37. Regular Run: $40 and $60. Discounts are available for seniors, those under age 30, college students and groups. May 24, 2016 - Senior Fraud Prevention Workshop - Join AARP for an informative discussion about protecting yourself and loved ones from FRAUD, SCAMS and IDENTITY THEFT.   Con-artists don’t care how hard you worked, they steal billions from people like you every year. Today, people aged 50+ control over 70% of the nation’s wealth and the scammers know it. They’re using the telephone, U.S. mail, email, the internet and they may even show up on your doorstep trying to get your money. For some, aging-related issues like memory loss can lead to vulnerability and new technology has made it easier for criminals to get access to personal information and savings. Understanding the latest trends and tactics in fraud can help us all protect our own savings, as well as people who are more vulnerable.  This presentation is based on analysis of undercover FBI recordings of con artists in action. AARP partnered with the FBI on a national level for the purpose of educating people about financial crime because the best defense is to prevent it in the first place. Consumer fraud, scams, identity theft, cyber security, credit card theft and financial theft within the family can be covered depending on the interests of the audience.  Tuesday May 24th, Session begins at 10 AM at Camden Neighborhood Center, 1210 37th Ave North Minneapolis, MN 55412.  FREE to Attend. Student Theatre Camp Experience Rises To Top
Chanhassen Dinner Theatres’ renowned summer theatre camp program, CHAN DT MUSICAL THEATRE CAMP, returns this summer with exciting new themes for youths and teens.  Since 1994, over 11,000 kids and teens have learned about the magic of musical theatre as only Chanhassen can do it. This educational camp program is also terrific summertime fun. Kids and teens, ages eight to eighteen, are given opportunities to explore a wide spectrum of musical theatre components including voice, movement, costumes, scenery, stage combat, improv and more -- all taught by professional members of the Chanhassen acting company, designers and choreographers making the CDT student theatre experience rise above other offered theatre camp programs.  Camp sessions are available throughout the summer months for both half and full day, week-long sessions.
