December 2 - 18, 2016 - Nutcracker (Not So ) Suite - Join The Cowles Center and James Sewell Ballet as we ring in the holidays with Myron Johnson’s off-kilter Nutcracker (Not So) Suite, a coming-of-age tale much closer to E.T.A. Hoffman’s original, grittier story than the Sugar Plum Fairy version many of us know today. Johnson’s highly inventive and irreverent production begins on the Upper-East-Side and careens into a beatnik downtown vibe with a life-size Barbie doll. The production is full of colorful characters all accompanied by a musical mash-up of hip-hop, R&B, contemporary tracks, and Christmas carols. Lauded by critics and audiences alike, Nutcracker (Not So) Suite is the Twin Cities’ newest favorite holiday tradition.  Running now through December 18th.  Click Here for Tickets or call 612.206.3600.

Now Playing – A Gone Fishin’ Christmas - From the playwright who brought you Miracle on Christmas Lake and A Hunting Shack Christmas–it’s the world premiere of Jessica Lind Peterson’s hilarious brand-spanking new holiday comedy! The Northland’s biggest ice fishing contest of the decade is underway and two sisters travel home to Duluth to catch a big one. But an unseasonably warm winter threatens to break apart the ice and the girls quickly find themselves in precarious waters. Featuring an unruly team of sled dogs, an aquaphobic intern and an old boyfriend—A Gone Fishin’ Christmas is guaranteed to tickle your funny bone and catapult you into the Christmas spirit!  Running now through December 23rd.  ALMOST SOLD OUT!  For tickets contact Yellowtree Theatre at 763-493-8733 or Click Here to purchase online

Now Playing – The Lion in Winter – Guthrie Theatre presents A family feud of imperial proportions - “Well – what shall we hang? The holly or each other?” Set during Christmas 1183, The Lion in Winter tells the wickedly amusing tale of King Henry II, his imprisoned queen (released only for the holiday), and their three entitled sons who vie for the throne in a double-dealing division of the kingdom. Best known for the film adaptation starring Peter O’Toole and Katharine Hepburn, this viciously funny drama is a high-stakes chess game where the pieces constantly change sides and no one is spared the sword. Brace yourself for an epic family takedown at the Guthrie Theater, just in time for the holidays.  Running now through December 31, 2016.  Click Here for tickets or call the box office at 612-377-2244.

Now Playing - A Don't Hug Me Christmas Carol - For its 10th year anniversary, A Don't Hug Me Christmas Carol will run November 25th thru January 1st at the newly renovated, elegantly rustic Bunker Hills Golf Club Event Center.  A Don't Hug Me Christmas Carol, one of the most popular holiday shows in Minneapolis for the past 9 years, is a hilarious Minnesota spoof of Charles Dickens' classic story, A Christmas CarolSynopsis: It’s Christmas Eve in Bunyan Bay, Minnesota and cantankerous bar owner Gunner Johnson gets in an argument with his wife, Clara, tells her he's skipping Christmas, he storms out of the bar, goes snowmobiling across the lake, falls through the ice, and goes into a coma. He comes back in his dream where he's visited by folk legend, Sven Yorgensen, who plays the ghost of Christmas past, present, and future. Sven takes Gunner (Scrooge) on a journey similar to that in Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" only very different.  Bunker Hills Golf Club Event Center, 12800 Bunker Prairie Rd NW, Coon Rapids, MN 55448.  Running now through January 1, 2017.  Click Here for Ticket Information & Reservations or Call (763) 951-7244.

Now Playing at The Chanhassen Dinner Theatre - Camelot - A great American Musical Theatre classic, magically returns to the Main Stage!  Come along to the idyllic kingdom of Camelot. Revel in the rich, deeply romantic legend of King Arthur and his beloved Queen, Guenevere. Celebrate the dashing Sir Lancelot, the gallant Knights of the Round Table, the mystical wizard Merlin and the Lady of the Lake from the mists of Avalon.  Beyond romance, noble quests and magic spells lie twisted plots, inner demons and betrayal – all threatening to snuff out Arthur’s dreams to build the greatest kingdom ever known – one where true justice and compassion reign supreme. The ideals of Camelot are ones we long for in our own day, making Camelot a hopeful legend for all time.  Rediscover the romance and grandeur of Camelot - at Chanhassen Dinner Theatres.  Running now through February 25, 2017.  Contact the Box Office: 952.934.1525 or visit www.chanhassendt.com for tickets.

Student Theatre Camp Experience Rises To Top
Chanhassen Dinner Theatres’ renowned summer theatre camp program, CHAN DT MUSICAL THEATRE CAMP, returns this summer with exciting new themes for youths and teens.  Since 1994, over 11,000 kids and teens have learned about the magic of musical theatre as only Chanhassen can do it. This educational camp program is also terrific summertime fun. Kids and teens, ages eight to eighteen, are given opportunities to explore a wide spectrum of musical theatre components including voice, movement, costumes, scenery, stage combat, improv and more -- all taught by professional members of the Chanhassen acting company, designers and choreographers making the CDT student theatre experience rise above other offered theatre camp programs.  Camp sessions are available throughout the summer months for both half and full day, week-long sessions. This makes the perfect gift for grandchildren who love musical theatre or are looking to make new friends and boost confidence.
